Your Club, and Our Community

The Warragul & District Greyhound Racing Club proudly operates with a strong focus on community engagement. Throughout the year, the club hosts and supports a range of events that bring people together, raise funds for great causes, and create opportunities for local groups to connect and enjoy themselves.

Economic Benefits & Regional Commitment

The club directly employs 16 permanent and casual staff, while the wider greyhound racing industry contributes significantly to the local economy—generating an estimated $40 million for the Gippsland region. This support helps sustain hundreds of jobs and provides valuable opportunities for local businesses and suppliers.

Our business has a massive contribution to the local West Gippsland economy.

In The Community

Supporting Local Causes

At Warragul Greyhound Racing Club, the community is at the heart of everything we do. We actively host and support events that unite people—helping local groups connect, raise funds, and enjoy great times.

We’re proud to sponsor several local sporting organisations, including:

3 local football clubs and 2 football leagues
1 local cricket club
1 local bowls club

Through our support, we aim to help these clubs thrive and continue playing a key role in the social fabric of our region.

The Great Chase

This annual event raises money for community groups that work with the aged and disabled and gives their clients a great day out at the races. Since 2003 the Warragul Great Chase Community Days have donated around $20,000 to local community groups.

Community & Fundraising Events

The Oaks at Logan Park is a modern and stylish entertainment complex situated at the Warragul Racetrack. Set amongst picturesque surrounds, our venue provides the perfect location for your next fundraiser.

Family Fun Days

We’re a family-friendly racing club hosting free events throughout the year. Our Christmas Fun Day features face painting, BBQ, jumping castles, showbags, and more. Stay updated on upcoming events via our Facebook page.

Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP)

Hosts adoption days and regular assessments to help retiring greyhounds transition into loving homes.

Aida Spitty

A true greyhound racing veteran with over 70 years of involvement in the sport. Her earliest memories include running her father’s dogs while riding her bike. Daughter of Hugh Emerson, a notable figure in the Geelong greyhound racing scene, commemorated with an annual race in his honour.

Sean, Nichole & Sophie Cachia

Sean’s passion for greyhounds began unexpectedly after attending a race meeting at the Meadows. From no background in the sport, Sean and Nichole are now successful breeders and trainers, with numerous wins to their credit.

Their daughter Sophie is a key part of the team, ensuring their greyhounds are happy and loved.

Murray Warre

Murray started his greyhound journey while on a health-related break from work, inspired by his neighbour, a prominent trainer.

His dog Gus, named Skye’s Apprentice, has enjoyed success on the track.
At home, Gus is a family pet first, remaining best mates with their golden retriever, Skye.
