Tasmanian Raider’s Guide picked up his third group one race on Friday night when winning the Sandown Cup for trainer Gary Fahey.
The four-year-old son of Zambora Brockie and Sacred Shadow, jumped well from box five and was able to hold off fastest qualifier Lady Wilson.
Raider’s Guide is the only Tasmanian greyhound to win three Group 1’s.
“That was just lovely,” handler, Carol Martin said.
“It’s a team effort back in Tassie, everyone helps, and we are so pleased that we can bring this home for them all.”
Raider’s Guide has now won 39 races from 76 starts, banking more than $500,000 in prize money – making him the highest stakes earner in Tasmanian’s history.
“All credit to him, we can’t keep him fit over 700 in Tassie so he does most of it just from his heart.”
